A Case For Character Suitcase Packing Project
As a part of the Serve Los Al program, our Club worked with Forever Kids and their Case for Character Program that provides suitcases for kids in the foster care program.
Our Club with Serve Los AL volunteers build 70 suitcases that were taken by foster care agencies from our location to be delivered to foster kids within the coming week – some were delivered that day!
Talk about an immediate impact on a child’s life: built in the morning, put to use that afternoon.
From the Forever Kids website:
Foster kids are hurting and need help.
They range in age from babies to 18 years old and are moved an average of 7 times, many as often as 20 or more times before they age out of the system.
When they move, they are given a trash bag in which to put their belongings. Anything that doesn’t fit is left behind.
This causes these children to feel neglected, uncertain, unstable and of no more value than the bags they are given to use.
We can’t meet all the needs of foster children, but we can certainly take care of a BIG one. We can replace those trash bags with brand-new suitcases with character-building materials inside.
Help us trash the bags!
Founded by Tony & Kathy Salerno Forever Kids is a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit base in Covina, CA and focuses on helping meet the needs of kids and families in body, soul, and spirit.
The Case for Character program (CFC) was started to do just that: help provide kids in foster care hope for a brighter future and a place (the suitcase) they can always connect to, no matter where in life they may be.
