If you walk into the City of Los Alamitos’ Administrative Services office, chances are you’ll find Chelsi Strohmyer-Wilson at the heart of it all—keeping things running smoothly, solving problems with a smile, and somehow making the world of HR, risk management, and city compliance look… well, effortless.
For over 11 years, Chelsi has worn many hats—leader, listener, rule-keeper, and morale-booster. She’s the Administrative Services Manager, which means she handles everything from employee relations to workers comp to CalPERS communication (yes, all the complex stuff most of us pretend to understand). If you’re a City employee or retiree in need of support, Chelsi’s your go-to. She’s the calm in the HR storm—and she genuinely cares.
But what truly drives her? It’s more than the spreadsheets and benefit plans. For Chelsi, it’s about legacy. Her heart beats in rhythm with a family tradition of service. Raised by parents who were deeply involved in Rotary and their community, Chelsi sees her work—and her membership—as a way to honor their values. It’s about continuing the good work they started, making a difference in her own way, and staying rooted in the community that shaped her.
And when she’s not being a superhero at City Hall or carrying the Rotary torch? You just might find her sneaking away for her not-so-secret guilty pleasure: beach days.

“Not great for my skin,” she admits with a laugh, “but totally worth it.” Whether she’s watching her sons surf the waves or curling up with a good book in the sand, the beach is her escape—a little slice of salty heaven.
Speaking of her boys—Chelsi’s proudest achievements aren’t found in any office. They’re Zack (23) and Parker (20), the two young men who continue to surprise and inspire her every single day. She and her husband, Mark, have been married for 25 years, and together they’ve built a life full of love, laughter, and loyalty (plus a bit of fur, thanks to their dogs Max and Reef).
Her hobbies? Think puzzling, gardening, reading, and just hanging out with the people—and pets—who make her life full. She’s the kind of person who makes time for others, remembers birthdays, and probably brings the good snacks to the book club.
When asked what she finds most rewarding about being a Rotarian, Chelsi lights up. “It’s about giving back,” she says simply. “It’s seeing the difference you can make and knowing that you’re part of something bigger. That’s powerful.” For her, Rotary isn’t just about service—it’s about connection, legacy, and creating a community she’s proud to call home.
So whether she’s in the office helping an employee navigate benefits, volunteering at a community event, or cheering on her boys from the shore, Chelsi Strohmyer-Wilson brings a sense of purpose, heart, and humility to everything she does.
