Our February 7th Meeting

After introducing the invited guests, the Club welcomed Rhiannon Gilmore as our newest member. Rhiannon represents Westmont of Cypress where she is the Community Relations Director. Rhiannon was presented two plaques to remind her of her commitment and the Rotary Four-Way Test.

Welcome to the Club Rhiannon!

And, each year the Club recognized the Rotarian who gives the most to Rotary International during the year. The largest donor in 2022 for our Club was Tom Stretz. Tom was presented a beautifully detailed exact scale model of a F-16 fighter jet.

We are very pleased to announce that our February Rotary Student of the Month is Megan Jun!

Megan is a senior in Los Al’s Technical Theater Program. Mrs. Castiglione says, “Megan is a 3rd year Technical Theatre student.  She has blossomed as our resident scenic designer, and has not only designed and implemented the set design for Back to the 80’s, Charlotte’s Web, and currently Freaky Friday.  She has competed at numerous competitions and festivals and received accolades for both her design work and her practical technical skills. Megan is a true leader, who has led and mentored groups to build her sets. Students are drawn to Megan’s quiet and calm leadership, and she is a student who is looked up to by every student in the Technical Theatre program.

Dr. Les Young shared his passion for Rotary’s RYLA program. The program works with 10th and 11th grade students and teaches leadership while building confidence and esteem.

Les stressed that the program is life changing for both the participants and the Rotarians who volunteer to be coaches within the program.

Les is currently the President of the Signal Hill Rotary Club and will be attending the 2023 RYLA camp as a coach.

Thanks Les for your service to Rotary and the youth of RYLA.
