Art Garcia: Twenty Years of Holiday Traditions at Long Beach Veterans Hospital

During the festive season, while many are at home with family, a special celebration takes place at Long Beach Veterans Hospital. 

Here, veterans who have served in various conflicts gather, not just for a meal, but for a tribute to their service, all thanks to Art Garcia of Maderas Steaks & Ribs in Los Alamitos.

For the past 20 years, Art has turned Christmas Day into a heartfelt tradition for these heroes. It began in 2003 when he first visited the hospital and decided no veteran should spend Christmas without recognition or community. 

Every year since, he has prepared a festive feast, ensuring that those who served our nation are celebrated and not forgotten.

This commitment was recognized on December 20th when the Rotary Club of Los Alamitos, Cypress & Seal Beach presented Art with a check for $1,650 to help support this year’s Christmas dinner. 

Art’s annual dinners are more than just a holiday gesture; they are a pillar of support and gratitude, reinforcing the bond between the community and its veterans. 

As we celebrate this 20-year milestone, we reflect on the impact of a single person’s resolve to make a difference in the lives of many.
